And a slow one as well!

Hello  Readers, few days ago Mbak De told me in our group

Oh, oke! For those who silently read my race recaps, I’d like to say

The same day, Eta said that many of her friends are doing triathlon inspired by me! Gw ngga tau siapa mereka kecuali si Geget!

but, Seriously! Really appreciate it! Hope all the recaps  I wrote help you to decide what race suits you.

Anyway, about the sharing session,I’ll try to write in the following order =))

  • I picked up running as my regular exercise in late 2011 I guess and signed up for race in the following year. To note, there were few numbers of races back then. My first race was Adidas King of the Road 2012.
  • Ever since, I joined FB Indo Runners. I think they are the pioneer to make running events. bla bla bla.. There I found what is the next race. Saat itu tentunya masih sedikit race ada yang di Jakarta. So, like other #kelasmenengahngehe, cari-cari info juga race yang ada di negara sekitar. In my case, Singapore or Kuala Lumpur. The most affordable ones for me. I read  blogs from those countries as well. 

 

  • Nah, 3 – 4x  ikutan  saya bisa pasang target buat pribadi ya. Kapan mau Personal best 10k, Half Marathon, Full Marathon atau mungkin Ultra and Trail.  Bisa juga dicari rutenya seperti apa, Cut Off Timenya berapa. Ini penting buat saya yang lelet ini!  Start jam berapa  or even siapa Race Organizernya!  ! It’s year 2000-s, everything in the internet! do your homework  while macet or nunggu kereta. 😉 Again, I found ones that I think do-able for me.

 

  • How can you decide  personal target for yourself? Major races itu kan sudah kelihatan tanggalnya kapan saja. Summary-nya kira-kira seperti ini:
    • Local  race: Bromo Marathon awal September and  Jakarta Marathon akhir Oktober. Hanya  Bali Marathon yang waktunya masih suka beda-beda. Unfortunately, Adidas KOTR discontinue since 2014! 😦 for all regions! (KL, Singapore, Manila,  and Bangkok) 
    • If you are into trail : Rinjani Ultra biasanya diadakan awal Agustus, Bromo Tengger Semuru awal November, etc.
    • Di Singapur : 2XU sekitar Maret, Sundown Marathon sekitar May, the famous SCMS awal December, etc.
    • Di Kuala Lumpur : Brooks HM biasanya pertengahan maret, the famous SCKL sampai tahun 2018 akan dilakukan di awal Oktober. Dulu adanya di akhir Juni. Karena sampai 2017 ini lebaran masih awal Juli makanya diundur oktober.
    • Angkor wat HM : biasanya sama dengan SCMS
    • World Major Marathon (Tokyo, Boston, Berlin, Chicago, New York) udah ketebak! =))

 

  • Ya, kira-kira 6 bulanan saya lelarian, saya sudah dapat banyangan mau ikut race apa-apa aja. Saat itu, setelah 3kali ikut 10K, I decided to do HM. di Standard Chattered Kuala Lumpur karena tahun 2013 itu masih diadakan di bulan Juni, saya sekalian mau ajak anak-anak jalan. Once again, back in that year, there are few running races within Jakarta Great Area, let alone Half Marathon Distance. 

 

  • Anyway, for major races, the Organizer had announced the D-Date though they haven’t open the registration yet! So, you may look for ticket and hotel prior to registration. Karena sudah tahu mau ikutan SCKL, selain mulai latihan ya, cari-cari info menginap dimana, naik apa, etc! Regular things you do when you decided to go for vacation. I guess you do know we call it “RACECATION!” just a little note:  Akhirnya, HM pertama saya justru di UI yang tiba-tiba ada agendanya dan SCKL Marathon sendiri ditunda ke bulan September  karena bencana asap. Karena ngga ada budget lagi, ya saya ngga ikutan di bulan September itu.   Alhamdulilah, walaupun gagal race di luar negri, saya malah  dapat banyak rekan baru dari rekan-rekan negeri jiran ini! Both Indonesian and Local!

 

  • Setelah melakukan HM, tentunya saya punya planning kapan mau Full Marathon. Di saat yang sama, galau mau ikutan Triathlon juga! Ini diukur sendiri, kemampuan diri sendiri ya!  Well, if you religiously read this blog, In 2014 I crushed my triathlon before the FM ! =)) It was Sprint Distance category 750m swim – 20K bike and 5K run.
  • Mulailah coba-coba trail. Menyenangkan sekali! I did it in BTS 30K but failed doing in under Cut Off Time. Latihan trail sendiri dicampur dengan long run waktu mau FM di Bali.

I told you here, my race(s)  are well planned ;)).

  • Therefore I can figure out what to do next! PREPARE training plan, tell your colleagues you’d take days off on that day, tell your family you sign up for a race, tell your friends (kayak saya di Bintaro Trojan Runners bisa latihan bareng-bareng untuk Long Run atau Brick)  and prepare the BUDGET! That where my saving and  bonus go ! ^_^  Ngga semua juga sih well planned, kayak waktu ikutan SCMS 2014 kan karena disuruh training ke Singapur juga. Jadi awalnya ngga planning ikut.
    Mungkin perlu juga tau health issue, technique (lari, renang, sepeda), food intake, food supply during training during the race dan lain lain. Pelan-pelan saja, baca-baca majalah, ngobrol sama teman, di blog ini saya juga share 😀

  • Ok, how to manage your training plan? Translate your training plan to the calendar. Jadi punya bayangan tanggal dan hari apa  harus Long Run, hari ini berapa Km, etc? Kalau training plannya cuma 5Km, bisalah setelah sholat shubuh atau setelah pulang cantor di sekitar rumah.  If I decided to do 7Km tomorrow morning before work, bekal anak sekolah, baju lari serta bra dan sepatunya lalu baju kantor serta jilbabnya serta penitinya harus disiapkan malam sebelumnya.  I slept early, because I want to start early as well.  Samalah kira-kira kan? Because if I run 7Km, it may took more than 1 hour for me! Slow as snail! Jadi sampai rumah waktu ngga kebuang buat yang ngga penting.

 

  • Kalau hari ini harus strength training, ya di kamar saja sehabis sholat Isya, etc.  Saya sesuaikan jadwal latihan dengan jadwal yang lain juga (acara keluarga, les anak, kawinan, etc). Kalau anak saya tanding bola hari Minggu misalnya, ya long run di switch ke Sabtu.  I didn’t religiously followed my training plan 😀 I must admit. hahahahah!

  • Oh ya, kalau sudah seriusin sesuatu, pasti perlu supporting equipment!  Sepatu lari yang cocok, clothes, compression socks, hydration bags, sport watch, even body glide! Saya rasa sama saja kalau kalian ingin beli tas impian, alat make-up, sepatu baru! Baca-baca review aja mana yang cocok dan affordable, beli second if possible, etc. Saya sendiri sih bikin account sendiri untuk ini :D. Walaupun kurangnya banyak!

Ini baru ngobrolin lari ya…belum Triathlon! =)) Sudah panjang!

Am still the overweight slow runner, so you probably finished half an hour before I do! My next race will be Sentul 10 K March 27th and Sungai Liat Triahtlon April 24th 2016. Insya Allah.

  1. untuk persiapan fisik ikut marathon sudah banyak sih aplikasi untuk smartphone..btw salut buat mbak yang rajin ikut event lari/ marathon, cemburu saya karena kyknya mbak lebih tua dari saya dan nampaknya masih semangat untuk terus lari 🙂
