Letter from Prague

Accidentally heard in radio that there would be some Indonesian Movie within the week and my friend Sinta made short review about this movie on her Path account, can’t wait to watch this! Unfortunately, near by 21 Cineplax didn’t have this movie on their theatre! Near by rumah gw maksudnya .  Ah!! I have to wait until weekend then….unfortunately, some of the theaters within TangSel are were no longer has this movie on their theatre! What! Film Indonesia kok ya sepi peminat sih! 😦

To be honest, the reason why I want to watch this movie is the setting. PRAGUE! PRAHA! kalau bahasa Indonesia-nya! The most beautiful city  I visited on my last trip. Here for the recap ^_^

Well, you can read the plot of the movie online, here my take on the movie, copy paste from my FB account with a bit modification.

  • A piece of Indonesia’s history that I never know. Some casts in this movie are actualy those students 😓 sedih kan mereka sudah tua yaaa! When I post this in my timeline, my friend send me the link about this students during Soekarno Era. Oh My Goodness, negara ini kok gini banget ya. Problema-nya itu itu aja ngga maju maju! 😦 Being a melancholic thinker who think too much I am, gw mikir perasaan mahasiswa itu waktu Ceko pun berevolusi. Kan negara ini pernah jadi Ceko trus gabung sama Slovakia jadi CekoSlovakia, terus misah lagi kan ya? Ngga hafal sejarah negara negara Eropa saya…anyone? Itu kan pasti deg-degan banget, mau pulang ke tanah air ngga bisa.

  • I don’t think Om Tio Pasukodewo  (as Om Jaya, one the scholarship students during Soekarno era) and Tante Widyawati  (as Sulastri) are ever aging! They look as fabolous as they were decades ago
  • Setting tentunya Kota Praha yang kecenya minta ampun pake banget itu! I heart this city so much. My favorite screen is when Om Jaya and Laras (Jullie estele) strolling in a bridge over Vlatava river with Prague Castle as the background *garuk garuk kursi bioskop*
  • OST songs composed by Glen Fredly *no need to explain*😉
  • My favorite quote was Om Jaya to Laras :

“Waktu saya mau berangkat ke Praha, saya berjanji ke Lastri dua hal
Pertama segera pulang ke tanah air segera untuk menikah dengannya. Kedua, mencintasi Lastri sampai akhir hayat saya. Takdir hanya mengijinkan saya untuk menepati  janji saya yang kedua”

*MELELEH ….AKU…… MELELEH*

Some screen of this movie made me smile :

  • Laras has to bargain for taxi fee in Prague! *yeah, we did too*
  • Laras lost her passport and money and came to Indonesia Embassy yet can’t get the replacement  very soon. “Saya disuruh tinggal sama anda!” Laras said to Om Jaya. heheheh, “lagu lama” yang kerap gw dengar dari teman-teman yang living abroad about staffs in the embassy.  😀
  • The local products, candies and instant coffee  which are the sponsored  of this movie. Ngga ganggu juga sih…

YOU GOTTA WATCH THIS MOVIE!

Here, a pic of my sister  in Prague! 😉
