it’s not a new year resolution, never been one! Yet, there’s a deepest part somewhere in my mind that I want to be (at least) familiar with another foreign language even for speaking only.
My dad and the kids are learning Arabic. well, kiddos went to Islam-based school, so Arabic is one of the subjects, whlist dad do (the learning) for fun. He has the course on weekend.
Two years ago, i download Duolingo apps to my phone. This application allow you to learn new language as well as competing with your friends. My running buddies from Bintaro Trojan had this silly competition to reach the highest point. I chose Spainish that time since I was quite familiar with its simple words. Most of my friend in ESL class back in Irving came from South America countries. But of course….., we get boring, this application is abonded!
As for me, I want to learn Japanese actually. you know why 😉 yet, never really serious about this.
Before leaving for Berlin, I use the app again to pick up some easy words that I might use. I was too lazy to attend German course. Limitted time and pelit juga since might not use (the language) regularly. Man, it was hard. Clueless for days the different between Sie Trinkt and Sie Trink :)) Then it is being abonded again. Thing that I didn’t regret. when I was in Fussen for instance, even when I asked question to teenagers, they speak English very well.
Not until few weeks ago, I started to learn Deutsch again, stilll via Duolingo. There are two reasons. (1) There is Lawson in my office building, and one of the cashier speak (for me) fluent Japanese! I asked him whether the company sent them for Japanese course. He said no.
Trus kok jago, mas?
Latihan lah mbak, sama customer yang datang. Kadang-kadang saya tanya sama mereka ini bahasa Jepangnya apa, itu apa. Sehari 10-20 kata kan lama-lama bisa!
Luar Biasa!!!! Bow down!
So, come to think of it, I’ll try to learn another foreign language by myself. Just for the fun and keep my brain occupied =)). bisa mencegah Dementia juga katanya.
Though my next long haul trip (kalo ada duit sih :D) less likely gonna be German
(because there are Lake Como, Nagano or Taupo on the list #halah) , I chose Deutsch again for number 2 reason. I follow some runners/triathlete from that country in Instagram. Found them when I was preparing Berlin Marathon and post my training using #together42 hashtag ;). Some of them are following me too.
Well, those amateur athletes wrote caption mostly in German, some of them are writing both in Deutsch and English. Apart from that, almost all of them them are also blogger who write story about their diet, training, race and even traveling. Schon!
Here’s what app look like. It consist many subjects and include all reading, listening and speaking.
still long way to go for me off course to complete the whole course by Duolingo.
Come to a discussion with a collegue who fluently speak Japanese, he said Reading a children book or watching cartoon might help (to practice the language). That’s what he did on his first days in Tokyo to purse higher education. He, being a non Japanese speaker (at that time) he was.
Hamdalah, we live in internet era where i can find childreen book for free.
and I got it from here
yay! I know the story in this book!!!! Very simple sentences but understand most of the words! Ya ya, I look up google translation for less than 5 words.
So, if you think your live is boring, there is many new thing you can try in life 😀 Some of them are even free!
