review on Murakami’s book

Gara2x Riana  mengidolakan Murakami besides Cuelho, gw penasaran sama karya kakek berumur 63 tahun ini. My first shot was A Wild Sheep Chase (Hitsuji o meguru bōken) sekitar 200 halaman. My take? i took me 6 months to read the book until pp 50! Gee, I didn’t enjoy reading it. Well, Riana said Wild Sheep is wrong choice. Percobaan kedua, gw beli Underground: The Tokyo Gas Attack and the Japanese Psyche, non fiksi berdasarkan rangkaian wawancara dengan korban. Gw ngga kelar juga :p I gave the book to Ito-kun.

Then I see this book, satu2xnya karya Murakami yang ada di Kinokuniya Grendi kalo ngga salah. Memoar tentang blio ketika giving up jazz bar-nya untuk (serius) menjadi penulis. Untuk membuat belio tetap bugar, with good endurance he chose to run. While physically preparing NY Marathon, he wrote about it as well. Di sini ternyata ketidaknyamanan gue membaca A wild Sheep Chase diaminin penulisnya sendiri 😀

Gw dah lama baca buku ini, cuma seinget gw Murakami-san done his first ultra marathon  62km kalo ngga salah in age 47! whoa! Semangat nih gue ikut full marathon ntah kapan ;). Big Spurs? anyone?

Second book was Sputnik Sweetheart (2001). Novel yang menceritakan pemuda K yang jatuh cita diam-diman dengan Sumire. Sumire dropped her college to be a writer. Sumire fell in love with Miu, married female businesswoman she met on cousin wedding,   years older than her and own a wine manufacturing.

Miu offered Sumire a job to be personal assistant, they both travel to Europe. Being head over hell fall in love with Miu, Sumire longing to have Miu literally. Unfortunately, not the way around.

Sepertinya Murakami membiarkan pembaca menginterpretasikan akhir cerita 😉

But I did enjoy the book!
